Qualifications

    Applicant must be 21 years old by the date of graduation from the Police Academy
  • 2.

    Applicant must have a high school diploma (or GED); college and/or military experience preferred
  • 3.

    Applicant must have a valid driver’s license
  • 4.

    Applicant must successfully complete the application process and be chosen by the Police Chief
  • 5.

    Applicant must be a resident of one of the following counties by the start date of the Academy and remain a resident for the length of employment: Hamilton, Butler, Warren, & Clermont in Ohio, Boone, Campbell, & Kenton in Kentucky, or Dearborn & Franklin in Indiana.
  • 6.

    Must be a U.S. citizen

POLICE OFFICER’S DUTIES:

Upon successful completion of the 28-week Police Academy and O.P.O.T.A. certification, police recruits will be sworn as police officers with the City of Cincinnati.  Responsibilities of sworn law enforcement officers include being assigned to a patrol unit for the purpose of enforcing laws and ordinances, protecting life and property, educating citizens about crime prevention practices and community problem solving; investigating accidents, crimes, and complaints; arresting violators, securing evidence, and preserving the peace; as well as other related duties.

Duties
